Who We Are

Paul Mayo is a highly experienced educator and administrator with a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion. With over 30 years in the field, he has dedicated his career to creating opportunities for students and faculty to engage in meaningful conversations about race, diversity, and American history.

As the founder of CRE1619, Paul has led tours through the American south for the past 25 years, providing a unique and educational experience for individuals looking to learn about the history of civil rights in America. Through his tours and lectures, Paul has become a sought-after teacher and advisor for organizations seeking to create a more diverse and inclusive environment.


Throughout his career, Paul has worked in a variety of educational settings, from teaching mathematics in independent schools to serving as the Diversity Director in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. He has also dedicated his summers to working at academic enrichment programs for students of color, including Horizons and Reach Prep. Most recently, Paul has served as the Program Director of the Malcolm Coates Prep@Pingree program for the past decade.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Paul Mayo is an experienced voice leading the conversation about diversity and inclusion, inspiring and educating individuals at every stage of their journey.
